- Information for each file is stored both in the Library and in the file itself (this is a security if the Library gets lost, and a convenience if you want to move your files to another disk or computer). Note that the information stored in the file is lost if the file is copied to a file system other than HFS or HFS+ (standard Mac filesystems).
